Correct Installation of Inground Luminaires

Problems with inground lighting installations are common, and are almost always due to poor system design and /or poor installation procedure.

1. For inground luminaires, suitable drainage layers must be put in place beneath the luminaire to prevent saturation. Refer to Fig 1. Diagram below. 2. All cable connections and joins must be completed within suitably appropriate 3-way junction box. Underground junction boxes should be internally encapsulated using epoxy resin. 3. The only acceptable method for outdoor or underground cable connection is the use of a suitably rated enclosure Example is the LED Logical JB3003 shown in Fig 2.
